As we end the school and  university terms for the summer period many students will be looking towards next year and thinking about accommodation and wanting to work out whereabouts their swivel recliner chair will go but whilst it is important that they are comfortable it is even more important that they are safe!

So if you have a loved one who is going to ‘Uni’ for the first time or perhaps returning for a second year and going to move into rented property other than halls of residence it is vitally important that you ensure their safety. Carbon Monoxide poisoning is known as the silent killer and is so  easy to succumb to do not let your family move into any property that is not fitted with a Carbon Monoxide Audible Alarm and if there is one there make sure it is tested and working properly, do not leave it to chance.

As well as checking out the Carbon Monoxide alarm, if their is one fitted, it is important to make sure that all appliances in the premises are safe the cost of calling out a gas engineer to check them out is so small in comparison to the cost of a loved ones life. Most decent landlords and universities will constantly monitor the appliances in their premises but it isn’t always done so be safe rather than sorry.

It would be terrible if your youngster was sitting in the swivel recliner chair relaxing and succumbed to CO poisoning, if there was a slight gas leak in their new ‘home’ they would not necessarily be aware of it and it could be that over a period of time the build up of carbon monoxide could leave them with feeling nauseous at best and possibly damaging organs with in their body, including the brain, or at the very worst causing their death!

Make sure your loved ones enjoy their time at university to the full and get full use from their swivel recliner chairs and are safe from the dangers of Carbon Monoxide poisoning, the silent killer!
