Lots of people decide that they would like a new swivel recliner chair but do not always think about how it will be delivered.

Only when it arrives flat packed in a box do they realise that just because of the logistics of the situation does it need to be delivered in small pieces for home assembly. However most reputable companies will be able to offer an alternative delivery option.

The standard delivery from any supplier will be by carrier and delivered to the front door of the building on the address, so if it happens to be a block of flats or a warden controlled building the driver would normally leave, after having made sure he  has got a signature, the parcel at the entrance.

Alternatively you can opt for a two man delivery service, normally known as a white glove delivery service, which entails the product being taken into the room of the consumers choice then unpacked and assembled. Every part will be checked over to make sure it is in the correct condition and then put together in the right way.

Once the delivery team have finished and show you how it works they will ask for a signature and then complete the job by removing all of the packaging leaving the user with a comfortable and completed product.

Obviously this sort of delivery service has to cost more, firstly because there will be two men doing the delivery and secondly as they have to enter consumers homes they will need to be fully insured for public liability.

Using this system gives the consumer more control as well because the logistics company involved will book in with the end user prior to delivery and normally the day before delivery will contact the client again to inform them as to whether it will be an AM or PM delivery.

Finally the partner in the two man team that is not driving then will contact the consumer again as they are leaving their previous delivery and depending on distance this can give anywhere between 20 minutes to an hour of notice of arrival.

So when you come to select your new swivel recliner chair think about how you want it delivered, will you be able to put it together yourself or do you have some one who could do it for you? That is obviously the most cost effective way but if you are not a DIY person it might be a sensible idea to go for a ‘white glove delivery service’
