For so many people buying a riser recliner chair is something that happens in later life and as a result they may not know all that they need to on how to select the right chair for themselves, so hopefully some of the information here will be of help to you or them.
Firstly do you need a riser recliner chair or just a recliner chair? If like me you suffer with arthritis in your legs or hips and struggle to either sit down in the first place or to be able to get up again once you are down then it is virtually certain that a riser recliner chair is for you.
Riser recliners can be so beneficial to people suffering from a wide range of medical problems and apart from arthritis as mentioned above things problems with blood pressure, asthma, circulation difficulties and even heart problems can all be helped. As can the general condition of those folks who are restricted to sitting for long periods, they can be helped by just being able to move their positions even if ever so slightly every now and again to save them from getting stiff or creating sore patches on their body from satiny static for to long.
Now you have decided that a riser recliner chair might be what you need it is time for some more decisions, the first one really is whether you want a single motor or dual motor riser recliner chair. Apart from the obvious fact that a dual motor riser recliner will obviously cost you more more money what are the differences and why would would one be better for you than the other? A single motor chair is just what it says and has just one motor which does all of the actions from reclining you to taking you back to an upright position and eventually standing you up as well. The sensible thing when you are eventually used to using your riser recliner chair is to let it take the strain and so when you want to sit down you firstly raise the chair to its fully upright position and then back yourself into it and then press the button and take yourself down to a sitting position the chair will take all the pressure off your joints and allow you to get so easily to a sitting position.
It is once you are there that the differences between the single and dual motor chairs come in to affect, the motor on a single motor chair operates both the leg rest and the back rest and so once you are sitting comfortably and decide you want to raise your feet, even if only slightly, then the back rest will also move and this can be problematical if you wish to read or watch television as your eye level will have changed and if you carry on and put your feet right up then your back will also be full reclined so you might just find yourself looking at the ceiling.
A dual motor riser recliner chair has separate controls and motors for both the back rest and footrest so being much more versatile giving you the opportunity to be able to sit with your back up right whilst at the same time having feet up an ideal position from which to watch television enjoy the daily paper or read your kindle!
Chairs also differ in other ways from some of the less expensive ones coming with just a small padded footrest which can leave your legs unsupported between the ankles and thighs and whilst they cost you less you may not be as comfortable as those with a full ‘chaise’ style leg rest. This is ‘chaise’ is fully padded all the way down from the top to the bottom of your legs and so is far more comfortable.
You should also make sure that the chair you select has a battery back up system so that in the very unlikely event of a power cut you are still able to get yourself out of the chair, these chairs will have a 9 volt battery installed that will have enough power in it to take the chair back to its normal positions to allow you to get out, but remember they will need checking and replacing every now and then otherwise you can find the power is off and the battery has packed up as well and you are stuck!
