For so many reasons sleep is important to us all and that is why an adjustable bed can be so helpful.
Indeed research recently has shown that proper sleep for the right number of hours can be even better for those in pain than taking a series of tablets.
Most people never ever really think about checking out the bed that they are sleeping on and for years will continue to use one that is probably doing them more harm than good.
During recent times the products available have improved so much and that is specially true of the adjustable bed market to and extent whereby it is no longer just those people with a disability or mobility problem that will want to use them.
Sensibly though if you suffer with any sort of problem that affects your sleep then you ought to be looking at the possibility of getting yourself and perhaps your partner an adjustable bed. Suddenly you can transform your world, the problem you have had for so long with swollen ankles can be alleviated simply by being able to go to bed and raise your ankles.
This will help not only the blood circulation but also prevent the fluid retention that can cause the swelling in the first place. For those with arthritic joints it is wonderful to have a bed that enables you to change position by pressing a button rather than having to try to haul yourself about in the bed.
If you happen to struggle with something like a hiatus hernia then you will be so appreciative of an adjustable bed and the opportunity to sleep sitting up without having to prop yourself up on loads of pillows that will always move during the night. Sitting up like this during your sleeping period will enable you to stop the acid reflux being a problem during the night.
What sort of adjustable bed though? The market has now got so many for you to choose from and it can be bewildering,if you need any advice then please feel free to ask us here at mobilitysavingexpert and we will do our best to guide you to the choices available.
Firstly do you want a single or a double size adjustable bed ? Whichever you choose remember all adjustable beds what ever the width are 6’6″ (2 metres) long because of the adjustable action, so make sure of two things, firstly that you have enough space in the room you wish to use it in to accommodate the extra 3″ in length it can some times be a problem. The second thought is can you get the base and the action up the stairs or around the corners and through the doors.
Your lovely new adjustable bed will be absolutely no use if it wont go in to the room you need it in, so check before you order!
If you decide to go for a double size adjustable bed then check what you want the compact and standard double size beds (4’0 & 4’6″ wide) come with just on action and one motor, so if you are up you are up and if you are down you are down and so more importantly is your partner!
Once you come to the king size sets, 5’0″, 6’0″ and some times 7’0″ then the choices are different. On the 7’0″ width it will be a restricted choice and will be two 3’6″ (large singles) linked together but with different controls and motors and obviously different mattresses. The 5’0″ and 6’0″ sets normally come with two single bases linked together length wise and two single mattresses that are independent of each other as well as individual hand sets. There is a possibility with this combination of having different mattresses as well so if one partner prefers something firmer than the other then that is a possibility.
You can if you wish though on the 5’0″ and 6’0″ still have one mattress on a base that for delivery and assembly purpose would come in two halves split from side to side.
Think though if you have two single sets linked together you will need separate bed clothes for both sides otherwise the first time some on tries to sit up there will be a loud tearing noise!
You will need to think about the type of mattress you want on the bed as well, whether it is a pocket sprung or a combination of pocket springs and foam or perhaps you should just go for a foam mattress. Normally you will find three different types of foam mattresses to select from. Reflex foam is normally less expensive and at the same time firmer than both Memory foam and latex foam.
If you choose memory foam you will feel like you are in outer space! seriously, memory foam was designed by NASA to help the astronauts on the space shuttle with stand the ‘G’ Forces on take off and from there became a real necessity in the hospital world because of it its ability of being both pressure relieving and at the same time for long term patients allowing the prevention of bed sores. The memory foam reacts to both pressure and also to body temperature and can be slightly warmer than other foams to sleep on, however it is easy to now overcome this problem by selecting a memory foam mattress that has a specially treated cover to make it cooler to sleep on.
Latex foam is the natural product of the rubber tree and has to be ‘tapped’ off the tree in a reasonably slow process which is one of the reasons for it being more expensive than the other two foams mentioned but it gives a truly luxurious feel and a wonderfully comfortable nights sleep and rest allowing you to awake feel refreshed whatever problems you may have.
In certain circumstances whichever bed you select and whatever mattress type you choose it may also be sensible to contemplate the buying incontinence pads online for your new bed.
Sleep well and sleep soundly on an adjustable bed that suits you
